Who are our CLIENTS ?

Our clients are just like you...just like us.

We realize that mental health counseling and therapy have a certain stigma attached...the National Institute of Mental Health reports that tens of millions of people are affected each year, and that only a fraction of those affected receive treatment.  "Affected" may mean many things to many people that include but are not limited to life transitions, work stress, relationship or family issues, depression, anxiety, grief and loss.  It is estimated that as many as 1 in 3 Americans are affected in any given year, or throughout a lifetime, more than 1 in 2 Americans are affected.  Essentially, if it doesn't affect you, it is likely that it is going to affect someone you know and love.

When you are experiencing difficult times, your emotional and physical health can be impacted.  It can feel isolating - maybe you think no one understands, like you are the only one, or that you should be able to pull yourself out of it.  Often times, we are so busy taking care of others that we neglect own own needs.  Sometimes, we keep our challenges to ourselves so not to burden or hurt others, ultimately sacrificing our own health and wellbeing.   It is not "selfish" to take care of yourself...it is necessary and essential!

What to expect at the C&W House...

  • You will meet with a licensed psychotherapist for a psycho-social assessment & typically takes one to one and a half hours to complete.
  • Prior to meeting with your therapist, you will complete a small amount of paperwork.
  • During the assessment, you and your therapist will identify a treatment plan that is individualized to your needs.
  • Follow up appointments will be made with your therapist and last from 45 - 60 minute sessions, depending on insurance coverage.
  • For children and adolescents, parent(s) or a guardian is required to attend for the first appointment. Depending on your child's treatment goals, appointments may include a combination of individual and family sessions.

"If your compassion does not include yourself,

it is incomplete."

~Siddhartha Gautama

Counseling as a profession has been evolving for quite some time and it seems that considering the benefits of an integrative approach including complementary and alternative medicine (i.e. mindfulness, nutrition, yoga, meditation, massage) as well as creative therapies (i.e. art, music, nature, photography) benefits the client as well.  The individual is empowered to make decisions that are congruent with and compliment their worldview and values, especially if traditional methods have left one feeling dissatisfied.

The bottom line is that our body was designed to be healthy and whole.  Holistic health means that we are healthy and balanced physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

Who could benefit from services at the C&W House?
  • anyone facing emotional, physical, and spiritual stress and not coping well on your own

  • anyone who has not found optimal success with traditional therapy for mood or behavioral issues

  • anyone who's mental state has begun to manifest itself with physical problems (i.e. headaches, lack of energy, sleeping too much or too little, weight change, muscle tightness, pain disorders or chest pain that are not explained by a physiological origin).

  • anyone who desires to achieve optimal health for your whole self

Tara is teaching me not to judge the negative experiences that have affected, are affecting, or will affect me in my life.  My experiences, negative and positive, make me unique and the knowledge I gain from them allows me to continuously grow and change.
